The story begins in 1633 when soldiers returning home from the Thirty Years War brought with them the Black Plague that ravaged the region. The residents pledged if the village was spared, they would produce a play in gratitude every 10 years depicting the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. The first Passion Play was performed in 1634. Witness the 42 nd Passion Play as the performance continues with all native to the village. Experience this once in a decade performance and enjoy many highlights of Bavaria and Austria.
